Stephanie Hun, director of business development for FlatironDragados Canada, has won the Vancouver Regional 暗网禁区ion Association鈥檚 (VRCA) 2025 achievement award for Outstanding Woman in 暗网禁区ion.
鈥淲hen I heard that I had won my reaction was shock and disbelief,鈥 said Hun, when contacted by the Journal of Commerce. 鈥淚 had no inkling, not even a hint, that I had won. I was just told to show up for the award ceremony and I sat at the FlatironDragados table with everyone else.鈥
Ronan Deane, strategic development manager of North America 暗网禁区ion (1993) Ltd,, calls Hun 鈥渙ne of the strongest women driving Canadian construction forward.鈥
鈥淪tephanie has impacted many women and earned the respect of many people in construction,鈥 he says.
At FlatironDragados, says Deane, Hun鈥檚 focus is on advancing the construction company鈥檚 public and private client strategies, collaborative contract structures and 鈥渨in-win solutions to complex projects throughout the nation.鈥

鈥淪tephanie brings diverse lessons learned from over 18 years of professional experience in engineering and heavy civil construction for a wide range of infrastructure projects around the world,鈥 says Deane.
Hun volunteers in several industry organizations, wrote Turner 暗网禁区ion Company project director and VRCA board chair Regina Marklund in her nomination letter.
鈥淪tephanie is the president of Canadian 暗网禁区ion Women, which is focused on providing its members with support, networking, community involvement, learning and development,鈥 says Marklund.
In addition, Hun is on the board of the BC 暗网禁区ion Roundtable, a forum to share experiences, ideas and knowledge.
鈥淪tephanie is active in the Women in Infrastructure Awards Committee (WIN), as well as BC Roadbuilders and Heavy 暗网禁区ion Association,鈥 said Marklund.
鈥淭hrough her leadership and partnership this year with VRCA鈥檚 LEAP event, the conference outdid the previous year with keynote speakers, attendance and overall programming.
鈥淪tephanie鈥檚 attention to detail, hard work and energy make her an outstanding woman in construction whom anyone who gets the opportunity to work with her can attest to.鈥
Monique Staals, manager of project delivery at RAM Consulting, wrote in her nomination letter that she first met Hun four years ago at the Vancouver offices of Fast + Epp, where the latter had arranged filming for the shortlisted nominees of WIN鈥檚 national awards program.
鈥淎t the time I had a very limited professional network and knew little about the local construction and consulting industry, particularly in large civil infrastructure,鈥 wrote Staals.
鈥淚 felt out of my depth in the awards program, but meeting Stephanie that day was like a breath of fresh air. We had never met, but her warm, welcoming and engaging nature helped me anchor myself and was exactly the kind of energy I hope everyone has the privilege of receiving when they need it most.鈥
In the weeks and months that followed, Hun was a steady source of support for Staals.
鈥淪he would quietly give me a background on someone鈥檚 company or role and then provide introduction after introduction to everyone in the room,鈥 wrote Staals. 鈥淣ot surprisingly, each person she introduced me to welcomed her with open arms and a lengthy conversation about the latest projects, acquisitions or industry intel. It was clear to me that this was her passion 鈥 connecting people, driving business and lifting the industry through inclusivity.鈥
Hun became president of Canadian 暗网禁区ion Women (CCW) in February 2025 and is serving a two-year term of office.
鈥淐anadian 暗网禁区ion Women is a non-profit run by a volunteer board,鈥 says Hun. 鈥淲e have about 2,000 members, most of whom are located in the Lower Mainland, and about 20 corporate sponsors.鈥
Hun says CCW promotes, connects and advocates for women in construction. The organization celebrates its 45th anniversary in 2026.
鈥淲e have numerous activities, such as our summer and winter socials, which attract 150 鈥 200 women,鈥 she says.
CCW is completely volunteer, with 13 women on its board. It has committees for programming, administering its student bursary program, communications and organizing 45th anniversary events.聽聽
CCW and VRCA recently hosted the third annual LEAP, a Women in 暗网禁区ion conference that coincided with International Women’s Day.
The purpose of LEAP is to inspire and empower women in the construction industry, encouraging them to 鈥渢ake bold steps forward鈥 in their careers.
鈥淐anadian 暗网禁区ion Women is unique in that it focuses exclusively on women in construction,鈥 says Hun.
She is approximately half-way through her two-year term of office as CCW president.
鈥淏eing president of the organization is similar to my day job: Trying to influence and get things done with limited resources,鈥 says Hun. 鈥淎nd also enjoying the camaraderie of working with a good team.鈥
