Alberta launches labour market information portal

EDMONTON — Alberta’s government has launched a new Labour Market Information portal that features labour-related data, indicators and trends.

The platform is meant to help students, jobseekers, workers, employers and policymakers understand what jobs are in demand, how industries are changing and what skills are needed in today’s workforce.

According to a release, the Labour Market Information portal complements the Alberta Economic Dashboard, which highlights Alberta’s investment climate. While the dashboard focuses on investment-related information, the new portal fills a gap by offering comprehensive labour market information tailored to workers, employers and other key partners.

This month, the Alberta Jobs Strategy was introduced as a government-wide framework to develop policies, initiatives and programs that connect Albertans with employment. The strategy is built on four pillars including career readiness, career awareness, removing barriers and having an employer focus, the release adds.
