VICTORIA — Two new directors have been appointed to WorkSafeBC’s governance board.
Joshua Douglas Towsley was appointed as a director representative of workers and Edith MacHattie, a professional providing health care or rehabilitation services to people with disabilities, was appointed as a director. Both are for a term ending Dec. 1, 2027.
In addition, three existing directors whose terms had expired have been reappointed to the board:
- Cynthia Nan Morton was reappointed as a director representative of the public interest, for a term ending Dec. 1, 2028.
- William Laird Cronk was reappointed as a director representative of the public interest, for a term ending Dec. 1, 2027.
- Anil Kumar Niranjan Singh, a professional in the area of law or law enforcement, was reappointed as a director for a term ending Dec. 1, 2027.
The WorkSafeBC board of directors serves as a steward of WorkSafeBC and the workers’ compensation system, a release reads.
The Workers Compensation Act requires the board include representation from professionals from a range of fields, including health care and rehabilitation, occupational health and safety and law or law enforcement as well as an actuary.
Representation must also include workers, employers and must be in the public interest.
