CALGARY, ALTA. — °µÍø½ûÇøion has wrapped up on the in Calgary, creating space for 97 new beds.
Officially finished in December 2025, crews are now outfitting the new spaces with furniture, equipment and other clinical tools.
Alberta Health Services will begin opening the spaces to patients, increasing access to emergency and specialized care in Calgary shortly, a release reads.
When the project began, the emergency department had 62 beds in a smaller emergency wing.
With all construction components now complete, there will be space for 97 more patient beds, including space for 28 additional emergency department beds.
The Peter Lougheed centre will have space for 159 beds and four training beds once fully outfitted following the completion of phase two, the release adds.
