Now that’s refreshing: Coca-Cola Canada invests $141M in Brampton bottling plant

BRAMPTON, ONT. — Coca-Cola Canada Bottling Ltd. has announced it is spending $141 million to renovate and expand its flagship manufacturing, distribution and sales centre located in Brampton.

According to a release from the province, the expansion will introduce a new line capable of producing at least 20 million additional cases annually.

The project is anticipated to create up to 500 jobs during construction and will be built exclusively by Canadian tradespeople as well as have at least 75 per cent of materials sourced domestically.

The release notes it will be one of the most technologically advanced production lines in the country, helping to increase production capacity and packaging capabilities and enabling the company to bring innovations to market faster.

The project follows an $8 million investment by Coke Canada Bottling in its Hamilton distribution centre last year.

The Brampton facility is home to more than 1,300 employees who service more than 7,000 local customers from Kitchener to Oshawa. Beverages made there are distributed across the province and throughout Eastern Canada, the release adds.

The Coca-Cola Company’s first Canadian bottling plant opened in Toronto in 1906, marking the first time the beverages were bottled outside of the United States.
